Reasons to Advertise on Internet Hello South
Africa
This
unique and fully comprehensive Website focuses on the Entertainment
and Hospitality Industry in Southern Africa. Internet Hello South
Africa promotes itself to an identifiable target market through a
comprehensive and ongoing marketing program.
The Black Economic
Empowerment (BEE) Commission defined BEE as a strategy aimed at
substantially increasing black participation at all levels in the
economy. It also aims to ensure broader and meaningful
participation in the economy by the black community. As a result
both Government and many corporate clients prefer to use BEE
venues. In response to this request, Internet Hello South Africa is
proud to announce its new section promoting the Black Empowered
venues.
By
constantly advertising, upgrading, maintaining and adding to our
Website, we are attracting both the international and the
local market so that you, the advertiser and viewer, can benefit
from this awareness. Together with our Project Partners, “Internet
Hello South Africa” has cemented its place as Southern Africa’s
premier hospitality Website. Presently Internet Hello South Africa
is receiving
15 000 hits per day

Internet Hello South Africa USSD
Latest Developments
Internet Hello South Africa created a USSD (*120*hellosa#) program
that has the ability to provide information that is displayed on
www.hellosa.co.za through cell phones.
By
dialling *120*hellosa# (*120*4355672#) the caller will be able to source
the following information by reading on his/her cell phone screen:
1. Accommodation venues in nine province broken
down into area and rating.
2. South African Airways flights and costing.
3. Cell C Information (to be discussed).
4. Competitions.
5. Special Packages (related to tourism and
hospitality)
6. Restaurants within a 5km radius from where the
caller is standing.
7.
South African National Park.
This
USSD application is said to be 7 times faster than an SMS and all
three networks Cell C, Vodacom and MTN will have access to this
information.
PRODUCT
USSD
(Unstructured Supplementary Service Data)
USSD provides a
medium that allows mobile operators opportunities to drive wireless
traffic through interactivity. Practical services such as flight
arrival and departure times can be extended to the vast majority of
all customers of a GSM network operator today.
Unstructured
Supplementary Services Data (USSD) is a means of transmitting
information or instructions over a GSM network. USSD has some
similarities with SMS since both use the GSM network’s signalling
path. Unlike SMS, USSD is not a store and forward service and is
session-oriented such that when a user accesses a USSD service, a
session is established and the radio connection stays open until the
user, application, or time out releases it. This has more in common
with Data than SMS. USSD text messages can be up to 125 characters
in length.
Vodacom has
deployed a time-based tariff for standard USSD sessions initiated by
the subscriber, based on a fee per minute. In order to keep the
cost to the subscriber as manageable as possible, unitisation of 20
seconds will be applied to this tariff – i.e. the subscriber will be
billed in 20-second increments. Premium rated services over USSD
will be linked to specific USSD numbers behind which content
services will be deployed, and will also follow the time-based model
with 20 second unitisation increments.
Advantages
USSD has some
advantages as a tool for deploying services on mobile networks:
Turnaround
response times for interactive applications are shorter for USSD
than SMS because of the session-based feature of USSD, and because
it is NOT a store and forward service.
According to
Nokia, USSD can be up to seven times faster than SMS to carry out
the same two-way transaction.
Users do not need
to access any particular phone menu to access services with USSD –
they can enter the Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD)
command direct from the initial mobile phone screen.
USSD works on all
existing GSM mobile phones.
USSD Number Usage
In the interest of
creating a growing market through the use of a simple user
experience Cell C, Vodacom, and MTN have agreed to use a common USSD
Primary Category number for the deployment of commercial services.
All networks have agreed to use *120* xxx #.
How It Works
USSD is
essentially driven from Vodacom (or MTN in the neither) in an XML
document over either HTTP or TCP Socket respectively.
Vodacom handles
the reception and transmission of the mentioned XML, according to
session state, menus etc.
Essentially, USSD
is session-based, menu-based SMS.
In a typical
scenario, users would be pointed to a set of synchronous menus on
our server according to the number they dial.
Therefore, if a
client has received a number (*120*512#), all incoming requests for
that number would be redirected to that client’s specific menu set.
The menus are
plain text (SML) documents, hosted on a secure storage server.

*120*hellosa#
is the only tourism and hospitality USSD in the country. This gives
huge advertising potential through leading edge technology.
There are no
subscriptions, no contracts and no SMS’s required.
Said to be 7
times faster than an SMS.
The mere fact that anyone with a cell phone can have access
to this medium/system breaks down all barriers to information
currently determined by income distribution and or services offered
in a specific area i.e.: users don't need to incur the expense of
DSTV or TV licenses, newspapers, magazines etc - the system is
affordable to the mass public.
The USSD is
updated continuously. There are no delays.
It is very cost
effective. |
