On the far northern border of
South Africa, adjacent to Botswana, lies the stark, enchanting
beauty of the Groot Marico. Not only is this now home to
South Africa's fourth largest game reserve, but is here that Tau
Game Lodge is situated.
Tau
"place of the lion" is located in the heart of the 75 000
hectare Madikwe Reserve. This malaria-free Reserve has
been restored to its original rugged beauty and ecological
diversity with the re-introduction of over 10 000 head of game
in what has been the worlds? largest game relocation program,
called Operation Phoenix.
All the
"big Five" "Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, Lion and
Leopard" now abound amongst the dramatic ridges of the
Dwarsberg Mountains and Tshwene-Tshwene hills.

The Madikwe Reserve boasts complex and diverse habitats and
ecosystems. There are 27 species of mammals to be seen,
including black and white rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo,
cheetah and even the endangered wild dog. Twice daily,
your expert guide will take you on a game viewing drive in an
open 4x4 vehicle to let you experience Madikwes? many wonders.
